First installment of Mark
Frank W. Hughes

Mark 1:1-15

On September 17, 2023, I will teach the first of a seven-session class on Mark in our usual place, Haskell Hall.  I will give a general introduction to Mark, including the question of who wrote the Gospel of Mark (and we will discuss the Papias fragments from the early second century that tells of Mark's authorship), the question of the relationships among Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and my position in favor of Markan priority, meaning that Mark was the earliest of the three synoptic gospels and that Matthew and Luke used Mark as a written source, in all likelihood.  Finally, we will look at the first part of Mark: Mark 1:1-15.  I hope that you will join us at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer located at, 504 Tech Drive in Ruston, Louisiana.  All adults and teenagers are invited to this 50 minute class that begins at 9:15 and ends at 10:05 a.m.
